It's raining heavily. Joy.

At least I'm feeling much better today and appear to have returned to the land of the living. No more nausea! Or Heartburn! Hurrah.

This improvement could, of course, be in part to do with the sneaky Topshop order I put in last night.
I was naughty and treated myself to a new cardigan and a pair of indigo skinny jeans for A/W.

It's mid July and I'm already hankering after cosy knits, boots and scarves and beanies. Not to mention crisp cold sunny days, and hot chocolate with mini marshmallows.

Usually I get excited about Autumn/Winter in August. Seems I'm a month ahead of schedule this year, but who can blame me when the weather's doing it's best impression of a dreary October day?

I've always thought that I was more suited to the Winter season. It's not that I dislike Spring or Summer per se, it's just I find more to love about that season than any other. The clothes are a big draw for me; I love the rich colours and tactile fabrics; layering for warmth; cute scarves and hats; getting into my favorite pyjamas and throwing on a hoodie and pair of cosy socks. Bliss.

And, of course, there's Christmas. Which I absolutely adore, but that's another story for another time...

Let's Hear it for the Boy!

<Geordie Big Brother Announcer> Daaay Twu ov bein ill </Geordie Big Brother Announcer>

Yes still ill. Every cloud...

However, I feel as weak and wobbly as a half starved Bambi (disclaimer: no deers, fictitious or living, were harmed in the making of this sentence) and have barely eaten anything for two days. Why is that the medication often makes you feel more wretched than the ailment itself?

I guess a mixture of antibiotic, antidepressant and antiviral will have that effect. Quite a cocktail I think you'll agree; shame it isn't of the alcoholic variety, not that my poor stomach is in any fit state for imbibing such things.

On a much more positive note: my very lovely boyfriend-who shall henceforth be called JB-paid me a surprise visit bearing 'get well' gifts and hugs. I am now the proud owner of the Johnny Depp DVD collection; The Best of Massive Attack, and a super cute watermelon keychain. And, if that weren't fabulous enough, he walked in the pouring rain to see me. Romeo has nothing on him...

We totasted his visit with goats milk tea. As one does. Although, I shan't be doing so again as it tasted too much like liquid Goat's Cheese for my liking. Brown liquid Goat's Cheese I'll grant, but Goat's Cheese nevertheless.

The Return of the Prodigal Blogger

I have returned. Has it really been two long months since I last wrote? Apparently so. How time flies!

What is news? Well, I have been working and eBaying and socialising and in between all that I've been trying to fight off my 'D'. Horrible, hideous thing that is. But all appears to be settled on that front now.

I think my body doesn't like me, for now I'm ill with a sinus and throat infection and have been put on Tamiflu in case of suspected Swine Flu. My doctor doesn't believe it is, but is taking the 'prevention is better than cure' route.

I thank him for that, as, as a brittle Asthmatic, there's nothing I would appreciate less than being struck down with the dreaded H1N1.

So it is I now find myself signed off from work for three days. Ho hum. After an initial reaction to the meds I've been put on (Eurythromicin in case you're wondering) which left me feeling like I was at death's door for most of yesterday, I'm now feeling slightly more human.

Apart from the fact I don't feel like eating a thing. Welcome to 2009.

As worrying as the state of the global economy surely is, I'm slightly more concerned with my own personal fiscal matters. It seems that-increasingly- I am literally holding out for pay day as soon as my wages are paid in. Where does the money go? I know I need to curb my spending, but I do wonder how on earth anyone can afford to live. Everything costs so much- was it always like this?

Having checked my accounts for the third time- yes I really do have as little as I thought (!)- I have decided that enough is enough. No more unnecessary spending: it's high time I got my finances in order. Once and for all.

Money doesn't buy you happiness, but at least it buys you the security of not having to worry how you're going to make ends meet....

Pieces of Me

Describe your personal style.

A mix of quirky and laid back. I love taking inspiration from retro and vintage clothing, and tend to take my cues from there and work in a bit of 'me' to make it truly my own.

What’s your signature look?

Black ankle grazing skinny jeans, ballet flats and stripy t-shirts and vests with a cardigan. I am in love with photography, vintage (and not-so-vintage) fashion, language and all things artistic. I'm also rather partial to a cupcake or two as well with a nice big (preferably polka-dotted) mug of tea.

People fascinate me; their thoughts, words and deeds. I am a devout people watcher- or naturalistic observer, to give it's formal nomenclature. There's something incredibly theraputic in watching the world go by.

I love the little things in life, those oh-so simple pleasures that we often take for granted, and feel a childish sense of delight when experienced: crisp and cold sunny winter mornings; that extra ten (fifteen, twenty...) minutes in bed; laughing with all your heart; hearing one of your favourite songs on the radio; being surrounded by your friends and family . And the list goes on...

So this is me.

Enjoy...
